Philosophy

All students should graduate from high school ready for college, careers, the military, or any future they choose in life. College- and career-ready graduates should be able to enter and succeed in entry-level post-secondary classes without the need for remediation.

Friendswood ISD is committed to focusing on cutting edge, rigorous and relevant education that prepares our students for post-secondary learning as well as a wide range of high-wage, high-demand careers. We offer sixty one programs of study, thirty of which are Career and Technical Education, or CTE, programs. Throughout the progression of each program, students learn relevant skills that may lead to a future career choice and/or path towards a college degree.

ASVAB/Military Info

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is available to students in grades 10-12. It measures a student's aptitudes and abilities and relates them to specific occupations in civilian and military life. This test allows students to explore career choices and post-secondary options. The ASVAB scores four critical areas -- Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension and Mathematics Knowledge -- which can also count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. For students interested in joining the military, the AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military. Dual Credit Workforce

Friendswood High School Students have the opportunity to take Dual Credit Workforce courses in several subject areas. Through College of the Mainland, students can take courses in Cosmetology, Barbering or Welding. Through San Jacinto College, students can take courses in Process Technology, Maritime Transportation, and Automotive Technology. The following video provides further information about the programs offered through San Jacinto College. If interested these programs, students should see their counselor to discuss further.

FAFSA TASFA and Financial Aid

Every student should fill out the FAFSA (or TASFA) as early as possible during their senior year to be considered for Federal, State, and individual colleges' financial aid money. FAFSA will open on October 1, for students who will begin college in the fall of the following year.

To log into SchooLinks, make sure you are logged into your web browser with your FISD gmail account, then click on the SchooLinks logo and choose the option to log in with Google.

SchooLinks Instructions for Parent/Guardian accounts: Parents/Guardians, please note that FISD has created your guardian account using the guardian emails you have entered in skyward for your student. These will be the email accounts you should use to access SchooLinks.
