Oklahoma!

OKLAHOMA! tells of fun, love and romance in the lives of the families living in the Oklahoma territory at the turn of the century. This is Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration and, in many ways, their most innovative. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, a high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful backdrop against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love is seldom smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road.

Tommy Tune Award: The 2010 production of Oklahoma! received twelve nominations in eleven categories out of a possible fifteen, including Best Show, which provided our cast the opportunity to perform segments of “Kansas City” and “Oklahoma!” on the stage of the Hobby Center. The show won Best Musical Director, much to the delight of the entire cast and especially Janwin Overstreet-Goode, the Vocal Director. The award was accepted by Ben Peck and Lauren Parker. Teagan Batts proudly accepted the Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance of Aunt Eller. Jeffrey Allison proudly accepted the Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance of Will Parker. Lizzy Conger received one of the eight $3000 scholarships presented by TUTS.
