Calendar and COVID Guideline Changes

Amended 2020-2021 Instructional Calendar with Adjusted Asynchronous Learning Days

In order to meet the new TEA guidelines, FISD had to adjust the current 2020-21 calendar. The proposed calendar removes the January 25th and March 1st secondary asynchronous days. These two days will be regular instructional days.

As a reminder, the secondary asynchronous days are for students in grades 6-12.  Learning activities will be loaded into Canvas for students to access on their own throughout the day.  Teachers will be given autonomy on these days to conduct synchronous learning with individuals, small groups, or classes if needed.  Teachers may also utilize these days to make contacts with students lacking engagement or to focus on planning.

Transition Center students would meet in-person on these days.

Updated COVID Protocols

Board approved updates to the FISD COVID protocols (BELOW).  These changes come as a result of changes in CDC guidance, TEA Health Guidance, and district data obtained during the first semester.  Substantive changes include the following:

•  pg. 4 - Students in grades K-5 will transition to art and music rooms vs. remaining in the classroom.
•  pg. 9 - Quarantine period for close and personal contact reduced from 14 to 10 days.
•  pg. 12. Campus visitors will be prohibited until further notice.
