On Monday, May 9, Friendswood ISD Superintendent Thad Roher presented 13 Ready, Set, Teach (RST) seniors with letters which guarantee each of them an interview with FISD once they obtain a teaching certificate.

The RST program, taught by Brooke Brooke Holtvluwer, allows students who are interested in pursuing a career in education to be paired with a teacher in the District and go into their classroom throughout the year to learn, assist and teach students of varying ages. Per FISD policy, if a student successfully completes the RST program, he or she has an opportunity to interview for a position once completing college with a 3.0 grade point average or above and receiving a teacher certification within five years of high school graduation. Prior to the 2021-2022 school year, FISD interviewed hired its first two former RST teachers, Bella Leggio and Lauren Jones.

Current RST students who were presented with the offer are as follows: Ava Barber, Morgan Barnes, Jake Cipolla, Emily Confair, Garrison Fritts, Melody Hall, Zoe Kirk, Hannah Maurer, Kelli Mulloy, Joel Sanchez, Alex Skinner, Aymee Thompson and Elise Whittenburg.

FISD extends its sincerest congratulations to all of these students and hopes to see them back for an interview in the near future.
