School: Monday, February 22, 2021

We recognize what a challenging time this past week has been for the Friendswood Community and surrounding areas. Getting our students back in school is a top priority. However, there are several challenges we are currently facing.

As of Sunday afternoon, Friendswood is under a Boil Water Advisory. This advisory creates complex situations to safely serve students and staff while in the midst of a pandemic.

Our maintenance staff has been working to restore power, heat, air-conditioning, and water to our facilities. There are still buildings that do not have heat and others without air-conditioning, but they will be continuing to work on those issues today and tomorrow.

With this in mind, Friendswood ISD will be asynchronous on Monday, February 22, 2021. Teachers will be posting assignments by 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Please do the best you can given your individual situations.

We are hopeful our students will be back in school on Tuesday. However, it would be best to prepare for another asynchronous day if the water boil notice has not been lifted. We will notify our faculty and staff no later than Monday at 8 pm regarding the reopening of school Tuesday.

Lunches will be made available for all students district-wide on asynchronous days, including tomorrow from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Bales Intermediate parking lot loop. Students must be in the vehicle to receive a meal. Lunch prices remain the same as an in-person instruction day.

  • Menus have been adjusted to include hot vegetables, canned fruit, and fresh fruits with peels such as oranges and bananas.
  • All water used for cooking, washing produce, washing hands, and making ice is being brought to a vigorous boil before use.
  • The kitchen staff is working to conserve as much water as possible.

For our families and employees who are experiencing financial and/or emotional hardship following this disaster, please know that FISD Cares is here for you. Visit FISDCares for more information.
