Friendswood ISD is proud to announce that Myreen Ahsan has been named one of just 30 finalists nationwide in the 2026 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, presented by the Society for Science.
Myreen's selection is a remarkable achievement: from more than 65,000 students who initially competed, only 30 — roughly the top 0.05% — advanced to the finalist round. This recognition reflects not only Myreen's talent and hard work, but also speaks highly of the innovation and support fostered throughout Friendswood ISD.
Myreen earned her spot as a finalist for her research on AI-guided small-molecule discovery for frontotemporal dementia. She will travel to Washington, D.C. to compete during Finals Week, October 23–28, 2026.
